My first book review (no spoilers)

A few days ago, I had stumbled upon an exceptionally entertaining book, it was one of the most thrilling books that I had read in a long time, so much so that I had decided to write a review on it, in fact this is my first public review that I have ever written!

To start off, the book’s name is “And then there were none” and it was authored by Agatha Christie, a famed murder mystery author. This was actually the first murder mystery book I have ever read, and I was quite ecstatic to dive into the book and the fact that it was authored by Agatha Christie added to my high expectations and excitement. The fictional Murder Mystery, took place in an island called “Soldier Island” in fact, the location and theme of the place was based on a real place called Burgh Island which is located on the south of Devon coast. For those of you wondering if it involved the authors well-known character “Hercule Poirot”, no it didn’t. However, the plot had incorporated 10 different main characters (which is quite a lot), it didn’t struggle to develop personalities for each character as the author had made sure to provide sufficient character development.

The murder mystery had also adopted a unique plot which flowed well with the mainstream characters; the author had also included and executed an impeccable job of foreshadowing, which was greatly satisfying. The writing was eloquent but simple, which was nice as it didn’t overload the reader with a heap of unknown vocabulary and even when new vocabulary words were used, they were placed in sentences where the meaning of the word could automatically be understood. The book also displayed perfect flow of language and plot at the same time, which added to the effect of not wanting to put the book down; somehow, the writer used her literary magic to grip you onto the story.

Overall I feel that this book is perfect as an introductory book to murder mystery as it really sets you off at the right foot, it had made me develop a love for mystery books, one which I’d never thought I would come to like. I’m glad that I had gotten to read the book and I definitely suggest this book for all you readers out there desperately searching for your next good book to read.

Oh, I almost forgot. The book was so good that they had even made a TV series on it, albeit I haven’t watched it, for all of you who don’t feel like reading a book, maybe try giving the TV show a shot to see if it’s any good.
