Dreams larger than life

Dreams; they’re what motivate us in life, they’re what gives us purpose and drive. The idea of pursuing something greater, something bigger, or maybe just something more close to your heart is more than enough to fuel the fire inside of us. We’ve all had those few dreams we wish to realize in our lives – well maybe not all of us, I’ve seen people very close to me dreamless, unmotivated and apathetic. I’ve seen both ends of the spectrum around me, from people who have no dreams, no goals and just take life as it goes to people who chase their dreams arduously every minute of the day, waiting for the day they finally achieve the fruits of their work.

As for me, recently, I’ve found myself closer to one extreme than the other. It’s not rare these days that i end up zoning out thinking about my future, pondering over the things i want to do, the places i want to go and the person i want to be, and while some of these dreams are impractical, to me they still seem worth chasing. It’s worth giving it a try at least.

Firstly comes the dream closest to my heart.
This past year my passion and love for aviation was rekindled, thanks to several things. From attending the first and the most breathtaking airshow in my life this year, to finally boarding a flight after a prolonged period of time staying grounded and finally because of a certain person who had helped me to rediscover my intense and zealous desire to spend my life in this field of something that i am so fervently interested in; collectively, these were all factors that had played a part in my dream of something that was close to my heart.

Then comes the dream of glory.
The dream to do something impactful in life and to create a lasting legacy. This wasn’t a dream that i always had in me growing up, however with recent times it certainly developed, especially after hearing stories of both my grandfathers, both great people who had started from nothing and made such a successful career and legacy with the little resources that they had, and who are quite literally the reason i am here writing this blog today.

Lastly comes the dream of living “Larger than Life”
Bright, glistening cities, scattered with skyscrapers reaching the end of earth. Loud sporty cars, ripping through the roads, as fast as a spaceship and as noisy as an aircraft engine.
Pretty much the dream every kid wanted at one point.
